Myles Kennedy is a singer who keeps his foot firmly on the accelerator, never seeming to sit still for an instant. Until recently, he had been splitting his time between Alter Bridge and touring as part of Slash's unit, billed as Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. With Slash back in Guns N' Roses, Kennedy has found time for other projects, namely a solo career.

With one album already recorded, the singer is already looking ahead to more new music despite this first solo album not having been released as of yet. When Backstageaxxess (audio below) caught up with the frontman, they asked what was going on with the Slash-led group. "Well, I think at this point, it kind of remains to be seen," Kennedy began.

Citing GN'R's current activities as well as his own time with Alter Bridge, the singer continued, "I'm working on another solo record — I finished a solo record last year, and I'm working on another one — so I guess I'm always just keeping my options open and always just trying to utilize my time on this planet and create as much as I can. So I guess we will see. The door's certainly open, and we'll see how it plays out."

Regarding the next solo album, Kennedy mentioned how the project began in 2009 with the idea of a stripped down sound that would allow him to tour with just an acoustic guitar. As time went on, the material developed and "became a little more produced," preventing him from the minimalist tour setup he desired. "So with the new record I'm working on, I'm still trying to keep it as stripped down as possible, so that… It's not gonna be something where it's gonna require a year or two of my time to promote it; it can be done in a relatively short span of time," he offered. "So hopefully in the next year or so would be ideal to put something like that out."

Alter Bridge's fifth album, The Last Hero, was released last year, propelled by the hit single, "Show Me a Leader." The record hit No. 8 on the Billboard 200 charts, the highest position since their 2004 debut, One Day Remains.
