We Texans are proud of our heritage, therefore, we’re proud of the flag that represents it. 

Having grown up in the Lone Star State, I was taught to be proud of where I come from at an early age. While no state is perfect, I chose to come back here after I got out of the Navy and haven’t lived anywhere else since. 

Speaking of our heritage, when I was a kid in the 80s, the Texas History textbook was more than twice the size of the U.S. History textbook. Looking back on it as an adult, I think that may be the most Texas thing ever. Everything’s bigger in Texas, right?

Now let’s get back to that flag of hours. I’ve always loved the beauty and simplicity of it. Some state flags are just a tad bit busy in my opinion. Then again, I’ve always been a minimalist when it comes to art.
