Woody Weatherman might be the coolest mofo walkin' this planet. Scratch that - he IS the coolest mofo on the planet and he was kind enough to dial me up on the BuzzLine for last Saturday's (2/18) edition of The Oath to talk up the release of the new self-titled album among other things. Check out the two-part interview in the audio players below.

I'll be the first to admit that while I hated to see Pepper Keenan (guitar/vocals) so tied up with Down that he couldn't find time for Corrosion Of Conformity, the thought of the Animosity lineup of the band writing and recording new material was intriguing to say the least. Seriously though, the band's adding a new dimension to their sound at a time when no one would fault them for sitting on their laurels waiting for Pepper to free up some time for C.O.C. and for that reason alone, I can't help but admire their willingness to take matters into their own hands instead.

The new album is definitely different from anything we've heard from the band in the last twenty years but it still has that ol' familiar southern metal sound mixed with an air of the era that won over the old school C.O.C. fans to keep the majority of their base more than happy. Who the hell knows what the future might bring for Corrosion Of Conformity...the three-piece thing could be a brief period or we could be witnessing the dawn of a new/old era for the trio out of Raleigh, North Carolina. Regardless, I'll be keeping up.
