Since I'm in a Neurosis mood this week I figured I'd share this cool little piece of footage from the first Ozzfest video. My friends and I would just keep re-winding and watching it over and over and never got burned out on it. I love how you can feel the power coming from the band as they jam this one out...
You would be hard pressed to find a more influential band in the last two decades than Neurosis. They're "that" band...the one that gets universal respect in the world of metal but are virtually unknown outside of the scene.
This week I'm going with Chicago sludge masters Indian's new album Guiltless. To quote U.N. Jefferson's sidekick in Revenge of the Nerds...this is some good shit. Indian brings it with intense painful screaming vocals, loud droning guitars and a pummeling rhythm section...
This week I've got to go with Dragged Into Sunlight's new album Hatred for Mankind. I can sum this album up best with just one word...disturbing. The record reminds me of the tape trading era of the late 80's and early 90's, particularly the lo-fi recordings of early Napalm Death and Carcass mixed in with the uninviting edge of Eyehategod and the twisted yet distinct sound of Incantation...
