This week I've got to go with Dragged Into Sunlight's new album Hatred for Mankind. I can sum this album up best with just one word...disturbing. The record reminds me of the tape trading era of the late 80's and early 90's, particularly the lo-fi recordings of early Napalm Death and Carcass mixed in with the uninviting edge of Eyehategod and the twisted yet distinct sound of Incantation. The band's choice of audio samples will remind you of Neurosis in that the samples are the icing on the cake and really add the disturbing "acid trip" aspect to the album. My favorite tracks are "Boiled Angel" and "Buried with Leeches", but listening to the album as a whole is where it's at. Highly recommended listening for fans of the aforementioned bands. Until next week...stay brutal!
