The Texas Department of Public Safety has released their initial report on the fatal Jacksboro Highway accident that claimed the lives of two teen girls.  The report shows that WFPD officer Teddy Whitefield was traveling at around 80 mph when his patrol car struck a Pontiac Grand Am driven by 18 year old Yeni Lopez.  Lopez, who was 7 months pregnant, and 13-year-old Gloria Montoya were both pronounced dead at United Regional a short time after the crash.  Doctors were unable to save the unborn baby.

According to the report, none involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt.   Lopez was reportedly on her cell phone at the time of the crash.  Officer Whitefield reportedly told DPS investigators that he was taking prescription medications.  Results from urine tests on the officer and the complete medical examiners report on the teens may not be available for several more weeks.

The initial report does not place fault in the accident and the investigation is ongoing.
