Breaking News: Grass Fire at FM 1954 and Hwy 79; Road Closed
Traffic along Hwy 79 and FM 1954 was shut down for just over an hour today as firefighters battled a grass fire along Hwy 79 near Bowman Road. Fire fighters from Holiday, Bowman VFD, Lakeside City and Wichita Falls battled the blaze for over two hours.
Investigators think fireworks may have started the blaze. No structure damage or injuries are reported. As of 7 pm, the area continues to smolder. Fire officials will likely have to keep an eye on the area for the remainder of the night.
