Around 200 acres burned in Archer County today near FM 1954 and Fuller Road.  The fire broke out at around 1:30 pm.   Officials say the fire did not pose an immediate danger to homes, but several were being monitored.  Crews continue to watch the area in case the flames should rekindle. Fire fighters from Bowman VFD, Scotland, Holliday, Lakeside City VFD and Windthorst fought the blaze.  Smoke could be seen as far as the Red River.  The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.  Officials are asking the public to be vigilant and report any suspected fires right away.   Burn bans are in effect across hundreds of Texas counties, including Archer and Wichita.  Fourth of July fireworks have been postponed in Wichita Falls due to the extreme fire danger and the sale and possession of fireworks is banned in both the county and the city of Wichita Falls.
