It was an all too fitting end for the former giant in video renting.

We heard earlier this month that all Blockbuster stores will be closing their doors in early January. Well if you still had a Blockbuster in your area you were still allowed to rent movies until yesterday. Well one man in Hawaii walked into his Blockbuster right before they closed and rented the last movie in Blockbuster history. The 2013 comedy "This Is the End" starring Seth Rogen and James Franco.

Last Wednesday, Dish Network president and CEO Joseph P. Clayton cited the growing shift to digital video distribution while announcing the closures. "This is not an easy decision, yet consumer demand is clearly moving to digital distribution of video entertainment," Clayton said at the time. "Despite our closing of the physical distribution elements of the business, we continue to see value in the Blockbuster brand, and we expect to leverage that brand as we continue to expand our digital offerings."

Now don't get me wrong I love Netflix, but if I want to rent a movie I enjoy going to a store. It looks like I will be hitting up Hastings from now on. Everyone is probably thinking I should use Redbox, but I always have the worst experience when I use Redbox. I am always stuck behind the little old lady that cannot and will not make a decision.
