Looks like this police force isn't busting drugs, they're busting the local lemonade stands.

It's so sad, kids can't even have a lemonade stand anymore. With the brutal summer right around the corner, everyone could go for a nice glass of ice cold lemonade. It's also an easy way for kids to make some cash and learn about money. In fact, not long ago it was lemonade day in Wichita Falls.

Well, the Overton, Texas Police Force is not a fan of lemonade stands because they forced two little girls to shut theirs down recently. Andria Green and her sister Zoey were raising money to buy tickets to Spash Kingdom for their Dad for Father's Day. Well welcome to 2015, where you need a permit for everything.

An hour after opening, police showed up and told the girls they needed a permit to sell the lemonade. Police agreed to waive the fee of the permit, which normally would cost $150. “The officer told them they had to go to city hall to get a permit,”said Overton Police Chief Clyde Carter. “Then the city told them they had to check with the health department, which they didn’t do.”

According to a Texas law, the sale of food that requires temperature control to prevent spoiling is illegal without a permit. “It’s because of the bacteria that can grow in the lemonade,” Carter says. “The popcorn they were selling was perfectly legal.”

But Sandi Evans, the girls’ mom, told KLTV that sending the family to the health department was too much. “I think that’s ridiculous,” Evans said. “I think they’re 7 and 8 and they’re just trying to make money for their own cause.”

They did, however, find a loophole which would allow them to operate their lemonade stand with no problems. The girls said they will set up another lemonade stand, but instead of selling it, they'll give it away and take donations.

As for the gift the girls wanted to buy for their dad, Splash Kingdom Water Park caught wind of this story and offered the girls and their family free tickets to the park.

Come on guys, it's just lemonade. Also, they're seven and eight years old. Everyone needs to relax.
