reprise records

Hey I ain't judgin'...if them dudes wish to explore the nether-regions of their mind then good on 'em. And far be it from me to encourage anything other than a hellraising lifestyle. For my money, Mastodon is the best band to come out of the last ten-plus years and I just can't see them disappointing me any time soon. Yeah, I prefer Leviathan to anything they've done since but that doesn't take away from the fact that I love everything they've done so far...to me, every album just feels like a natural progression for the band.

In what is sure to come as no surprise to anyone, I've decided to go with Mastodon's new disc "The Hunter" as my metal pick of the week.

File this one under "Oh Hell Yeah"...Mastodon has released another song from The Hunter and it puts this old-school Mastodon fan in high spirits. "Spectrelight" is Mastodon sounding a little more like their earlier stuff reminiscent of Blood Mountain and my personal favorite, Leviathan...

Apparently the SoundCloud player I embedded yesterday had an unauthorized version of the song and it was taken down. So here's the official version of "Black Tongue" and I'm diggin' it more and more with each listen.
