The numbers are in for the highest grossing touring acts of 2012, and there are a few surprises peppered into the list. What isn't surprising, however, is that Metallica were the biggest draw of any hard rock act in 2012, followed closely by bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nickelback.
Earlier this year, the Red Hot Chili Peppers announced plans to unleash a whole wealth of new music the old-fashioned way: on vinyl. In fact, a total of nine 7-inch vinyl singles featuring 18 previously unreleased outtakes recorded while the band was making its ‘By the Way’ album are due in total, and the first release — with ‘Strange Man’ as the A-side and ‘Long Progression’ the B-side — drops this Friday (Aug. 10).
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has revealed that he will be releasing a solo EP titled ‘Helen Burns.’ Flea promises that the EP will sound like nothing you’ve ever heard him play before.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, on the other hand, will enjoy the copious benefits of being rock stars by performing at Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich’s New Year’s Eve Party. Abramovich’s year-ending (or year-starting, depending on your perspective) bashes are notorious and he plans to make this year better than the last.
When the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were announced today (Dec. 7), Red Hot Chili Peppers were among the honorees along with Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys and others. RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis commented on the induction, calling it both emotional and a great sense of achievement.
The 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class will feature three bands that have helped shape rock music over the past 25 years — Guns N’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beastie Boys were all announced as inductees today (Dec. 7). The ceremony will take place April 14 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland.
