Quite possibly the most recognizable and beloved movie critic of all time, Roger Ebert, passed away earlier today after a long battle with thyroid and salivary gland cancer that left him unable to speak for the last few years of his life
Andy Griffith, the legendary TV actor behind ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ and ‘Matlock,’ died this morning at the age of 86. An ambulance was called to his North Carolina home this morning and the star was pronounced dead a short time later.
Black metal frontman Trondr Nefas from the Norwegian band Urgehal has passed away at age 35. After 20 years of making black metal with Urgehal, Nefas suddenly died in a manner which the band described as “peaceful and natural” in an official statement.
Sad news swept the Internet Friday (May 4) with the death of Beastie Boys rapper Adam “MCA” Yauch at the age of 47. It’s very sad to me that I know very few people will read this. Ronnie Montrose was one of the true unsung heroes of what is now called “Heavy Metal”. He successful combined absolutely CRUSHING electric guitar groves to the songs “Rock Candy” and “Bad Motor Scooter”. My favorite track “Space Station #5″ featured really cool electric guitar effects that took Hendrix’s chirps and squeeks a step further. More after the break.
Riot guitarist Mark Reale died on Wednesday (January 25th) at the age of 57 after having been in a coma for the past two weeks due to severe complications from Crohn's disease. Reale had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage and was admitted to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition on January 13th
