Got out of my normal routine this past weekend and decided to try out something new in Wichita Falls.

My dad was in town this past weekend and I asked him what he would like to eat for lunch on Saturday. He asked if I had ever been to a 'Pho restaurant'? I had not, but I had seen some popping up around town. I have also seen a bunch of my Maryland friends going to this one up there a lot. So, let's try something new.

First off, I didn't know what Pho was. Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup consisting of broth, linguine-shaped rice noodles, a few herbs, and meat. Sounds pretty good sign me up. My only complaint with this place is, no beer. When it's the weekend, I like to enjoy an ice cold beer with my food. I saw that a lot of people were drinking boba tea there, but I decided to just stick with a sweet tea. For a restaurant in Texas, it was some good sweet tea.

To start off, my dad and I had some spring rolls. It's a rice wrap with cilantro, noodles, shrimp, pork and lettuce. For me what made it was the dipping sauce it comes with. It was sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet. Definitely will be getting these again when I go back.

OK, here comes the part where people are going to judge me. I didn't order Pho at the Pho restaurant. I was looking over the menu and this rice platter caught my eye. It had a grilled marinated pork chop, some more sliced pork on the side, grilled shrimp, with a huge mound of rice that had a fried egg on top. I am glad I ordered this because it was delicious. The thinly sliced pork was amazing. Wish the portion size was a little bit bigger, but with the spring rolls I was not leaving hungry.

My dad ordered the spicy beef noodle soup. It was a massive bowl and I was glad he got stuffed because I got to try it out. Now for someone who enjoys spicy foods, it was delicious. They have a ton of jalapenos, spices and sauces to add so you can add your own to determine your personal spice level. When my dad handed over his bowl, I threw every jalapeno in there, it's bad luck to waste jalapenos people. Not really, but it should be. For my first bowl of Pho it was very good. If you're skeptical about trying new things, like me, give it a go. I really think you will like it.
