Rise Against may be on extended hiatus for the time being but that's not stopping them from putting out a compilation of rare original and cover songs called Long Forgotten Songs: B-Sides & Covers 2000 - 2013. The album will be available September 10 and pre-orders and exclusive fan offers will start on July 30.

Lead singer Tim McIlrath explained the reasoning being the album, saying, "In the last 13 or so years Rise Against has put out six records, each one we are proud to put our name on. But we are just as proud of these 26 songs that slipped through the cracks and never ended up on any of our full lengths . . . most of these songs saw the light of day at some point, but we thought we would spare you the digging and put them all on one record."

A complete track list has yet to be revealed although we can expect Rise Against's 2012 cover of Bob Dylan's "The Ballad Of Hollis Brown" to be on the album (check it out below). The track was recorded for the tribute album Chimes Of Freedom. McIlrath explained how the band approached the track saying "We just ran it through like the machine of Rise Against, and it's got a little bit of everything that we do. It's kind of like, instead of like a song with like a verse and a chorus, this was more like this big, dark story, and it was almost more like a soundtrack. And that's how we treated the song, which, I'll be honest, is kind of foreign territory for Rise Against."
