Papa Roach has announced that they’re officially dropping out of the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. Rumors circulated for a few days as to whether or not they would continue with the tour after the band cancelled their sets on the road on both Tuesday and Wednesday, and now they’ve come out with a statement that confirms what has been speculated.

Jacoby Shaddix has been battling vocal issues for weeks now due to a nodule on his vocal cord, but they’ve been working on taking care of it without surgery. As it turns out, Shaddix will have to go under the knife after all.

Shaddix said this about the band’s departure from the tour:

It’s no secret that I’ve been having issues with my voice lately. I was hoping to be able to go out there and kill it on this tour by resting and doing vocal exercises, but my voice has just gone out on me. I hate to let our fans down, but unfortunately surgery is the only way to fix it. The last thing we want to do is give our fans less than 100% every night. We know they’ll understand and we’ll be back better than ever.

The Uproar Festival will go on without the band, and includes performances from Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind, and Adelitas Way.

There’s no word on what Shaddix can expect for recovery time.
