According to Blabbermouth.net, Metallica has been voted the most influential rock band of the last 30 years by readers of British metal magazine Kerrang! While I definitely think Metallica's arguably one of the most influential bands of the last 30 years, check out the top 10:

  1. Metallica
  2. Green Day
  3. Iron Maiden
  4. Slipknot
  5. My Chemical Romance
  6. Linkin Park
  7. Bullet For My Valentine
  8. Blink 182
  9. Ozzy Osbourne
  10. Foo Fighters

Now I don't know what they're smoking over there, but that is one jacked up list. Number one, I like Foo Fighters but how the hell do they make the list and not Nirvana? And someone please tell me how Linkin Park, who was obviously influenced by Korn, makes the list but not Korn? Every one of the nu-metal bands we spin on Buzz, i.e. Saliva, Disturbed and Papa Roach were influenced by Korn. My Chemical Romance, Bullet For My Valentine and Blink 182 (all ranked ahead of Ozzy) belong nowhere near this list...hell, Blink 182 owes their existence to the number two band on the list, Green Day.

I could go on forever about how jacked up this list is but I think I've said enough and I doubt very many people will argue with me on this one.

The poll is part of the 30th anniversary edition of the magazine celebrating their launch in June 1981.
