Amazon has been slowly trying to dethrone Netflix as the king of streaming television shows. This deal may push them into the top spot.

HBO has an incredible lineup of television shows, movies and standup specials. As of now the only way to see them legally streaming would be to use HBO's own service, HBO Go. Until next month when Amazon users will be able to watch some HBO classics.

On May 21, the following will be available on Amazon Instant Video. All seasons of revered classics such as The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood, Rome and Six Feet Under, and of recent favorites such as Eastbound & Down, Enlightened and Flight of the Conchords.  Epic miniseries, including Angels in America, Band of Brothers, John Adams, The Pacific and Parade’s End. Select seasons of current series such as Boardwalk Empire, Treme and True Blood.

Hit original movies like Game Change, Too Big To Fail and You Don’t Know Jack. Pedigreed documentaries including the Autopsy and Iceman series, Ghosts of Abu Ghraib and When the Levees Broke. Hilarious original comedy specials from Lewis Black, Ellen DeGeneres, Louis CK and Bill Maher.

This deal is going to be huge with Amazon. If you are already an Amazon prime member for their delivery service, you get Amazon instant video for free. Being from Baltimore, I love the Wire and unfortunately I was never able to finish it. The show was still going on when I moved down to Texas to go to college. For some reason the Midwestern State dorms didn't have HBO. Starting next month, I will be binge watching a ton of HBO shows and can't wait for it.
