Yup get the video games off the streets because that's the real problem for violence in our country. I have never understood the argument that playing video games turns people into killers. I remember when the Columbine shooting happened everyone was blaming the video game 'Doom' and I never understood why. It is estimated that ten million copies of Doom have been installed on peoples computers. If a very, very small percentage of that group goes nuts and kills a bunch of people, is it the video games fault. No, some people are just crazy and we all need to remember that before we go blame someone else.

Well a district attorney in California is offering a video game trade in to get these violent games collected up. No criteria has been made as to what determines the game as violent, but I am willing to say any game with a M rating is a safe bet. Now the trade in is only for one ice cream. So if you bring in five games you only get one ice cream, don't want to turn around and give the kids diabetes I guess. The trade ins will be taking place every Saturday in October throughout the district.

The drives coincide with national Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and also will accept exchanges of toy guns. "As we know domestic violence incidents almost always have children present and these children develop over time imprinted images of the family violence," Ed Berberian, the Marin County D.A., told the Marin Independent Journal. "These children then carry those experiences into their adult lives and often repeat the pattern of violence in their own family units."

So lets get video games off the streets? This doesn't make sense to me. Are we blaming violent video games for domestic violence cases? Was Ray Rice playing his Xbox before he got into that elevator with his girlfriend? I am sorry, video games are not the problem in our society. Remember parents who blame video games for violence in our country, where does your kid get the money to buy the sixty dollar game?
