If you're having a bad day, you can always count on idiots in the news to cheer you up. After all, they're not only having a bad day, but it's published!

Some teenagers in Florida have been arrested in connection with the burglary of a home. Among the items taken were the ashes of a woman's father along with the ashes of her two Great Danes, plus electronics and jewelery. After taking the ashes, the teens snorted some of them, thinking it was cocaine or heroin.

Of course there was no high that followed. When they realized they weren't achieving the high they desired, they threw the urn into a nearby lake.

"The suspects mistook the ashes for either cocaine or heroin. It was soon discovered that the suspects snorted some of the ashes believing they were snorting cocaine," the sherriff's report said.

Once they realized their error, the suspects discussed returning the remaining ashes but threw them in a lake instead because they thought their fingerprints were on the containers, sheriff's spokesman Judge Cochran said.

Police divers were trying to recover the ashes. The suspects were jailed onnumerous burglary and other charges.

I've never tried cocaine or heroin, so I probably wouldn't know the difference either. If the substance I'm about to snort, however, is coming out of an urn, I would hope to have enough common sense to NOT try it. Now they not only have an arrest to deal with, but they'll always be known as the kids who snorted cremated ashes and fodder for jokes at their high school reunions.
