At the Gates have atoned for the fact that this year's edition of the Decibel Magazine Tour isn't coming anywhere near the Lone Star State by streaming next Monday's show in Chicago via Yahoo.
Vallenfyre have resurrected the late 80's / early 90's death doom sound made famous by bands like Grave, Entombed and Dismember and have managed to create a huge buzz in the metal underground in the process.
In the wake of his father's death in 2009, Gregor Mackintosh of Paradise Lost fame sat down and began creating what would become Vallenfyre as a way to vent his frustrations. The result was an album's worth of material that would eventually become what, in my opinion, is one of the best albums of 2011 - A Fragile King.
Man I'm getting deeper and deeper into Vallenfyre with every listen to their new album A Fragile King.
Their timing is perfect in that typically I listen heavily to three or four albums at a time and they're usually all from different genres and right now, Vallenfyre's got the old school doom/death metal covered as far as my stereo goes.
