A single mom had lovingly set up her giant skeleton as part of a festive yard display, but it quickly became the object of a bizarre heist. You can check out security camera footage of the incident in the video at the bottom of this article.

The thief was caught on camera—because of course she was—boldly hauling the enormous skeleton into the back of her white SUV like it was a regular grocery run. And it wasn’t some random impulse grab either. You don’t just “accidentally” walk away with a skeleton taller than most living room ceilings. The video footage shows her nonchalantly loading the skeleton into her car like it's just another Tuesday.

Now, you’d think that such an enormous (literally) crime would leave the thief shaking in her boots, but no—she drove off, white SUV and all, leaving nothing behind but a skeleton-sized hole in the heart of the community. It’s more than just a missing Halloween decoration, though. For the single mom who owned it, this skeleton was a part of her holiday tradition, something her kids loved and that gave the neighborhood its spooky flair.

The community isn’t about to let this bone-headed thief get away with it. They’ve rallied together, and while they might not have deep pockets, they’ve managed to offer a $50 reward for any information that leads to the return of the beloved bony giant.

So, if you’re in Austin and see a massive skeleton peeking out of someone’s backyard, or better yet, awkwardly crammed in the back of a white SUV, do your civic duty—give them a heads-up and claim that sweet, sweet $50 reward. After all, how many times do you get to help crack the case of The Great Skeleton Heist?
