Community Wide Animal Services Adoption Day (#AdoptWF)

Wichita Falls, Texas- The City of Wichita Falls Animal Services Center is announcing a community wide adoption event to be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015, from 10am to 2pm at Animal Services located at 1207 Hatton Road.

This first ever event to be held at Animal Services will showcase adoptable dogs and cats from seven different local rescue groups and shelters including Animal Services. There will be additional animal related organizations onsite with training and resource information to help pet owners.

This event will also host Queen Bee Cajun food truck, Kona Ice and special appearances from Craze E Cat and players from the Nighthawks football team. Patterson’s Family Auto will also be making a $20 donation for each adoption completed at Saturday’s event. The donations will be used for the No Kill Wichita Falls Community Initiative campaign to bring awareness to the abundance of homeless animals locally. This campaign is to educate and inform the public and coordinate with local community partners to decrease the homeless pet population in Wichita Falls. The goals are to increase adoptions and decrease the number of animals being surrendered to shelters.

This adoption event highlights the numbers of homeless pets in our community and the need for citizens to choose to adopt first and adopt locally.  Every month, Animal Services receives on average 350 dogs and cats.  While some are reclaimed by their owners, the majority of these animals remain homeless and in need.  Our local rescue partners save lives by choosing some of these animals for their adoption programs while others are placed up for adoption thru Animal Services.   By working together with our adoption partners, the euthanasia rate for Animal Services continues to decline.

Animal Services invites all citizens to come attend this adoption event on Saturday and fall in love and adopt a new family member.
