Never let it be said that Weezer aren't ambitious when it comes to rock and roll. In their new video for 'Back to the Shack,' the first single from 'Everything Will Be Alright in the End,' they conquer the moon with the sheer force of guitars and drums and earnest vocals. (We think there's a joke somewhere in the about moon rocks and rock and roll, but we've got nothin'.)

The new video (watch above) was directed by Warren Fu, who's no slouch in the music video department. He gave us the '80s-tastic dance video for Haim's 'If I Could Change Your Mind,' as well as a few videos for the Killers and more than a few for Daft Punk.

And they're not just releasing music videos this week; Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo recently spoke with comedian Marc Maron on his podcast, 'WTF.' Cuomo recalled his past, when he was a full-blown metalhead. He said the first band that defined metal as a culture and something new was Quiet Riot.

Cuomo also recounted the first time he heard Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' on someone's boombox in the school cafeteria while he was a sophomore in high school.

"They had a boombox, and they put 'Master of Puppets' on. And there was the nice, quiet intro, and then it breaks into 'Battery.' And I thought something had gone wrong with the guy's boombox because it was suddenly so fast."

The Weezer singer also spoke of his love of Shakespeare. He said he has what he calls "Nerd Nights," where he picks 20 or 30 people to go with him to see a Shakespeare production.

Weezer hit the road in a few days to promote their new album, which comes out Oct. 7. For tour dates, check out the band's website here.
