The late Marvin Oliver opened The Browse Shop in 1968 in the old Dixon Boot Co. building, where it has been from day one. Marlene Ermis first went to work at the Western-wear store in 1974; and in 2005, she purchased the shop from Mr. Oliver. Marvin Oliver died on October 2, 2006 at the ripe age of 102 and 6 months.
Marlene learned the business inside and out from Oliver, including custom steam-shaping cowboy hats.
