I love Van Halen, but sometimes I forget the fact that a dude by the name of Mitch Malloy was almost Sammy Hagar's replacement in the band.

The band rehearsed with him for a while in '96, resulting in a demo of him singing "Panama" that's been making the rounds on the internet for a while and now, a new-at-the-time demo for a tune called "It's the Right Time".

It's not a bad song by any stretch of the imagination, but it also doesn't blow me away. It just sounds like a typical mid-90's period Van Halen tune and most of that stuff was hit-or-miss for me - and this is coming from a guy who likes Van Hagar.
