I am still in shock that something like this went down at a stadium that I frequently attend. R.I.P. to someone who was just trying to attend a Dallas Cowboys game.

I first reported this story on Monday, and at the time the man who was shot was in stable condition. We didn't know much about the man except that he got into an altercation in the parking lot after the game. We now know the victim was Richard Sells, who passed away as a result of his injuries last night in a Fort Worth hospital.

Arlington police said 28-year-old Marvin Rodriguez pointed a gun at Sells during a fight, then shot him in the neck when he was trying to break up another fight. Records show Rodriguez is jailed on charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bail has been set at $200,000.

Richard Sells was all set to get married next month and his fiancée is expecting a baby. After three unsuccessful surgeries, Sells family made the hard decision to take him off of life support on Wednesday.

A statement made by Sells' sister, Victoria Gunning reads:

“Today my mother and his family are going to go say our final goodbyes to the greatest man I've ever known. We're going to sign the donor papers so that his beautiful heart and organs will live on through others. We just wanted to say thank you for your love, support and prayers.”

I think we all need to calm down a little bit when we go to sporting events. Don't get me wrong, I still stand up and go nuts during games. Yes, opposing fans have gotten under my skin before (Yankees fans are the worst), but I have never thought about fighting or shooting them in the parking lot after a game.
