Iain McCaig, concept artist for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has praised the screenplay for the new Han Solo spinoff film, saying that it is “by far the best Star Wars script” at a recent conference, according to Star Wars News Net.

Lawrence Kasdan, who co-wrote Episodes V, VI, and VII, as well as Raiders of the Lost Ark, is responsible for McCaig’s emphatic response as lead writer on the script. In fact, according to McCaig, he started the Solo script before starting on The Force Awakens. The Han Solo movie, which will be directed by dynamic LEGO Movie duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, will finally hit the big screen in 2018.

“I laughed, I cried, I did all the things you should do when reading a good script,” are the paraphrased words that emerged from the Art and Industry Imagination conference in New Zealand. Apparently, we’re “in for a treat.”

Alden Ehrenreich, who was so great in the Coen brothers’ Hollywood comedy Hail Caesar! has been charged with filling Harrison Ford’s boots-and-waistcoat combo as Han Solo. Meanwhile, Ford has denied all involvement with the film, and when asked if he would be giving advice to his successor, replied flatly: “No I’m not going to do that.”

It’s okay, Alden. With a script this good, we’re sure you’ll do fine.
