The rematch between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman for the UFC middleweight title will be held Dec. 28 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas in the main event of UFC 168.Dana White made the announcement live on ESPN's SportsCenter at approximately 6:30 p.m. ET.

This announcement made just days after several reports stated that a rematch was not going to happen. Weidman shocked the world by knocking out Silva in the 2nd round of the middleweight title fight the two shared at UFC 162 in Vegas on July 6th. Initially Silva had said he did not want a rematch but after having some time for his emotions to settle he supposedly brought the idea up at a lunch with UFC Commish Dana White. White was more than happy to accommodate.
