The Dallas Cowboys offensive line is doing amazing right now and one member of the group finally got some national attention this week.

Tyron Smith is the big name on the Cowboys offensive line, mainly because he signed that eight year contract extension that could be worth 110 million dollars. Needless to say he got everyone's attention with that kind of money. Looks like the Cowboys plan of rebuilding the offensive line has finally come to an amazing success this year.

In what has become the pass happy NFL, the Cowboys are going with a more balanced offense. My goodness is it working out, DeMarco Murray has rushed for at least 100 yards in every game this season. DeMarco is very talented, but if the guys up front don't make the holes to run through he wouldn't be going anywhere. This more balanced offense has the Cowboys at 5-1 and tied for first place in the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Each and every week the NFL assigns their players of the week and for the first time since 2004 a lineman took the honor. I think this doesn't happen too often because its got to be hard giving one lineman the award since we think of the whole line as a collective unit. Kansas City Chiefs guard Brian Waters was named AFC offensive player of the week after Kansas City got a 56-10 win over Atlanta on Oct. 24, 2004. He was the first offensive lineman to get the award since they started in 1984.

This doesn't happen too often, so its something for Cowboys fans to enjoy this week along with that upset of the Seattle Seahawks. The Cowboys next game is this Sunday against the NFC East rival New York Giants. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 pm and you can listen to all your Dallas Cowboys games in Texoma on NewsTalk 1290.
