Trivium are slated to release their sixth album ‘Vengeance Falls’ in October, and the album has been preceded by the single ‘Strife.’ Now, the band has unleashed the music video for the song (watch above).
The video sees the band play in a warehouse, with clips of fire, snow-covered mountains, and close-ups of individual members. Frontman Matt Heafy seems a bit more relaxed during some of the choruses, perhaps counter-balancing the energy of the music with the reflective and emotional lyrics to invoke a certain feeling with the viewers. The song is very hook-oriented with a bit of an inflection from modern metal and turns the spotlight on a constant of Trivium’s music: melody. The first solo is harmonized before Heafy breaks away from fellow axeman Corey Beaulieu for a solo of his own with some excellent phrasing.
The album was produced by Disturbed / Device mainman David Draiman, who promised the following: “‘Vengeance Falls’ is a masterpiece of metal. It is their finest work to date, and a record so strong that it will blow the doors open to a world they deserve to dominate.” That sentiment seems to echo what Heafy said when stating that the new album “is the culmination of everything we’ve gone through; the representation of struggle endured from within and experienced from the world. Every failure and every success has led us to this moment. Vengeance Falls is this moment in time…”
Trivium have earned their reputation as road dogs and will continue to wear that title as they embark on a co-headlining tour across North America in support of ‘Vengeance Falls’ with DevilDriver. More information on the tour can be found at Trivium’s website.
‘Vengeance Falls’ is out Oct. 15 via Roadrunner Records.
