UPDATE (8:00 a.m. 12/27/15): Police are now reporting that at least 11 people have died.

UPDATE (11:45 p.m 12/26/15): There are now reportedly eight people dead, including an infant, after the tornado outbreak in North Texas Saturday night. Five people died in vehicles in Garland, two at a gas station in Copeville and, according to a Collin County Fire Marshal, one infant died in Blue Ridge.

At least six people have been killed after a dangerous storm spawned multiple tornadoes across at least three counties in North Texas Saturday evening.

Four of the deaths occurred near Interstate 30 and President George Bush Turnpike. According to NBC DFW, all four victims were inside vehicles at the time.

Two other deaths occurred at a gas station that was destroyed in Copeville in northern Collin County.

There are eleven reports of tornadoes touching ground in the DFW area; however, National Weather Service officials won’t know exactly how many twisters touched down until they are able to go out and survey damage.

The Dallas Morning News reports that, according to the National Weather Service, two tornadoes were reported around 7:00 p.m. in Mesquite and near Wylie, and another tornado was reported near Farmersville in Collin County around 7:30 p.m.

Photos and video (seen above and below) from witnesses appear to show a large tornado that moved through the Garland and Rowlett areas near Lake Ray Hubbard. At least 70 homes have been damaged and some destroyed, according to reports.

About 50,000 people are without power across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The National Weather Service says, that the flash flood risk will continue through tonight in areas of North Texas with the highest risk being along and near Glen Rose to DFW to Bonham line. Individuals are urged to remain vigilant and avoid flooded roadways. If you encounter flooded roadways, make the smart choice, turn around, don't drown!
