We've got some news on the progress of Tool's long-awaited fifth studio album. The band is still crafting the work, but via the Tool Facebook page, it was revealed guitarist Adam Jones came up with an "ending for a new Tool arrangement" which the other members are pumped about.

Tool's fifth full-length may be the most anticipated rock / metal album of the last few years. The record has been pushed back from potential 2013 and 2014 releases, and with 2015 beginning to burn, it marks nine years since Tool gifted fans with '10,000 Days.'

Tool published the following message via Facebook on Jan. 12:

Starting the New Year off on a positive note, ADAM arrives at the LOFT with an ending for a new TOOL arrangement and gets the nod of approval by the others. As long as they don't start with the ending, that's good news!

Tool's writing process was also documented with a post by the band's webmaster on Tool's official site accompanied by a photo of drummer Danny Carey at an L.A. Kings hockey game:

Yes, I know that the puck that Danny caught happened during a recent L.A. Kings hockey game, but at the Lakers game last night, when I asked him about how things were going with the band, he told me that a couple of days ago Adam had come into the loft with an ending for a particular song that everyone really liked. So, perhaps the musical arrangement for another Tool song is finished... unless they sometimes write the end of the song first?

Stay tuned for all updates on Tool's forthcoming release as news continues to come in.
