Have you ever tried stopping an 88 mile-per-hour fastball with your face? It doesn't end well, just ask Miami Marlins superstar Giancarlo Stanton.

The other night the Marlins were facing off against the Milwaukee Brewers when things went horribly wrong.

It started as an ordinary at bat for Stanton. Until the fastball, pitched by Mike Fiers of the Brewers, took an awful twist and nailed Stanton right in the face.

As you can imagine, Stanton dropped like a sack of potatoes. He even had to be carted off the field by the medical staff.

Stanton's is currently recovering, although he more than likely won't be returning by the end of the season, if he returns at all.

He's feeling well enough to post a picture of his beat-up face on Instagram though, which you can see below.

Now you know that had to hurt like hell.
