For once, a list I am glad to see Texas at the bottom of.

As you may know, I grew up in Maryland and I never had a speeding ticket living up there. Since moving to Texas, I have gotten two. Both of them have been on the same stretch of road, on 287 going into Denton. A hill exists before you hit a Shell station, cops just love to chill there. It's where I have gotten my only two speeding tickets in my life, be on the lookout if you know where I am talking about.

Well turns out my bias against speeding tickets in Texas has been dead wrong. Turns out, Texas is considered a speeding mecca of sorts, according to this new survey. Now, am I saying go out there and crank it up to 88 miles an hour like Marty Mcfly? NO, I am not condoning speeding at all.

The folks over at WalletHub have put together a complex study of which states are the worse for financial penalties. The company looked at 12 key metrics across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The study also found that 75% of states have “absolute” speed limits, meaning just by going over the limit, the state has enough to convict you of speeding. The other quarter of states have laws that allow your to argue in court that the speeding was reasonable.
