Teaser Trailer For New American ‘Godzilla’ [VIDEO]

After the last American 'Godzilla', it took Hollywood nearly 16 years to get up the courage to try again. But this time it looks like they are doing it right.

Due in theaters May 16, ‘Godzilla’ will be only the second Godzilla film made by Americans, though this it will serve as a reboot instead of a sequel to the 1998 cinematic failure. According to the official website,

An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

While the teaser trailer shows little of Godzilla, it still portrays him as the villain, whereas the synopsis looks to bring Godzilla to a role he's known for in the Toho films, a defender of humans. The 1998 film starring Matthew Broderick was so despised that Toho created a new film where their Godzilla killed the American version of Godzilla. From the looks of this early trailer, Legendary and Warner Bros are off to a terrific start in making a film worthy of the original Toho classics.

‘Godzilla’ stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (‘Kick Ass’) and Elizabeth Olsen (‘Oldboy’), both of whom will also be in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, and Bryan Cranston in his first post ‘Breaking Bad’ role.
