The Smashing Pumpkins have begun writing a new album. Frontman Billy Corgan announced yesterday (March 25) that a follow-up to the Pumpkins' 2012 full-length, 'Oceania,' is in the works, much to the joy of fans worldwide.

Corgan took to his personal Twitter account to share the news with his 227,000+ followers, posting a short announcement about the good news, asking for fans to wish him luck with the endeavor. According to Billboard, Corgan actually started working on ideas for the album last year, but he the official writing process began yesterday.


Corgan tells Billboard that the album "definitely seems like it's going to be more of a rocking' affair" than 'Oceania,' which received very positive reviews from critics.

Music hasn't been Corgan's only priority as of late. The frontman opened his Resistance Pro independent wrestling promotion and has starred in a wrestling-themed commercial for Walter E. Smithe Furniture. Additionally, Corgan opened an Illinois tea house in 2012 and is currently working on his spiritual memoir, 'God is Everywhere from Here to There.'
