On Friday (June 3), it was announced that Slipknot would be postponing the first dozen dates of their upcoming co-headlining tour with Marilyn Manson, as frontman Corey Taylor underwent "unplanned spinal surgery." The vocalist, who revealed the news following his procedure, has now has provided more details as to why he had to go under the knife.

After fan speculation, Taylor cleared the air, stating on Twitter, "Basically broke my neck a while back and didn't realize it." He elaborated that he had two discs replaced as well as work done on his vertebrae. After receiving messages regarding his decision to quit smoking as fans linked this to the surgery, Taylor sent out a Tweet dismissing this notion, exclaiming, "Enough [with] the conspiracy theories. I quit smoking [because] I wanted to. I had emergency surgery [because] s--t came up during my physical. Calm. Down." Both Tweets can be seen below along with a picture of Taylor smiling in a neck brace.

As Taylor revealed above, the postponed tour dates will be rescheduled in August. The affected dates ranged from the stops originally set between June 9 in Salt Lake City, Utah through June 26 in The Woodlands, Texas. Slipknot's tour with Manson will now kick off June 28 in Nashville, Tenn. Of Mice and Men will be the opening act on the trek.

After the conclusion of their summer trek, Slipknot will break ground in late September as Ozzfest and Knotfest collide over the course of the Sept. 24 and 25 weekend. Billed as 'Ozzfest Meets Knotfest,' the joint festival will see Black Sabbath perform their final Southern California show on Saturday night under Ozzfest, featuring Disturbed as direct support. Knotfest will take place the following day, headlined by Slipknot with direct support coming from thrash icons Slayer.
