When Jumiah took a job as a maid in Singapore about a year ago, her boss probably figured she would do her job and that would be the end of it. It seems she had some issue with her boss, however, and gave him a taste of her in his coffee. She’s being charged with adding menstrual blood in his beverage.

There could be a number of reasons as to why Jumiah added such a nasty ingredient, but one of the common reasons one would add Aunt Flo is to enhance fertility or to seduce someone. Did she have the hots for her employer? Perhaps.

Catherine Yronwode, author of “Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic: A Materia Magica of African-American Conjure” had a few words to say about the incident.

"It can be used to seduce and enforce fidelity," she told The Huffington Post by phone. "It's not exactly a coercive spell. This is kind of like pheromones." Yronwode was, however, surprised to hear that a maid would use a "spell" like this on her boss.

"This is not something you'd do to get a raise on a job," Yronwode added. "This is something you'd do to get a sexual connection."

Was that the case of Jumiah, the maid with a taste for blood? She may leak the information later, but for now we’re all left wondering. Either way it’s nasty, and her boss is probably still brushing his teeth.
