Fort Sill emergency personnel, along with first responders from the Lawton Fire Department, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, an Oklahoma National Guard helicopter and units on post continue the search for 32 year-old Staff Sgt. David Lee Hawkins.

Authorities believe Hawkins was in his car as it was swept over the Four-Mile low water crossing early Sunday morning.

Tonight, static observation locations will be established along the river until daylight.

Critical search decisions were made today concerning forecasted heavy rainfall and the opening of flood gates from Lake Lawtonka which both raise the creek levels.

As a safety reminder, it only takes four inches of moving water to carry a normal civilian vehicle off the road. For questions about low-water crossings or to provide information on the whereabouts of Staff Sergeant David Lee Hawkins, please call the Fort Sill Law Enforcement Desk at (580)-442-2103.
