The current drought is at the top of everyone’s mind in Wichita Falls and here’s another way you can cut down on your water usage.

Because water is such a precious commodity aboard ships, one of the first things I learned in boot camp was how to take a Navy Shower. It’s a simple process that gets the job done and can reduce water use by as much as 95 percent.

To take a Navy Shower, turn on the water long enough to get your body wet and then turn it off. Next, fully lather your body. After that, turn the water back on long enough to rinse off and you’re done.

Think about it, do you really need the water running the whole time you’re in there? Sure, it feels good but it’s far from necessary. Especially at a time when every drop is a precious commodity.
