I can't believe it, but a new Rock Band game is going to be released.

Around 2007 a new game hit the scene that at the time, everybody was playing. Guitar Hero, where you got a plastic guitar and were able to play some of your favorite rock songs of all time. This game also made people think they were good at the game and that they were guitar gods. Then they would pick up a real guitar and let's just say it wasn't pretty.

A couple of years later a new game would hit the scene that would expand on the Guitar Hero phenomenon, Rock Band. This included a guitar, a bass, drum set and a microphone. Seriously a fun thing to bust out at a party and just get drunk to. Then the guitar games just disappeared, many say it was because they flooded the market with so many sequels. Well if you were a big fan of this series a new game will be coming out this year.

The first question I was wondering was, will you be able to use your old instruments if you still got them? Turns out, yes. They're working with Sony and Microsoft to make the old instruments compatible with the new consoles. If you have some old songs from the other games downloaded you will be able to transfer those as well.

The one thing they're going to change with the game is being more aware of what your band mates are doing. “Wouldn’t it be awesome if the game design supported and rewarded you for being more aware of what’s happening with the other players? Adding some of those relationship dynamics is a big area for us,” said project manager Daniel Sussman.

Also don't be prepared for a ton of sequels like last time. Harmonix plans on making this the only Rock Band game for this generation of consoles. I have to admit I kind of want to check it out. Rock Band was huge when I was in college and I think it would be cool to relive some old memories.
