Queens of the Stone Age Cancel Upcoming Outside Lands Appearance Due to Injury
Sad news for Bay Area fans of Queens of the Stone Age, as it’s been announced the group is cancelling their upcoming appearance at San Francisco’s Outside Lands festival on Saturday, Aug. 12.
Both the group and festival broke the news via Twitter, where it was stated, “Due to injury, Queens of the Stone Age’s previously announced appearance Aug. 12 at Outside Lands has been cancelled.” Neither the festival nor the band have commented on the specifics of the injury and whether or not all parties in the band are currently OK.
Queens of the Stone Age are set to release their newest LP Villains on Aug. 25. We’ve already heard some of the new songs for the album, including “The Way You Used to Do” and “Feet Don’t Fail Me.” The band has a host of other tour dates coming up, including a fall tour with Royal Blood starting Sept. 6.
Of Villains, Josh Homme has spoken about the risks he and the band want to take on the new album, keeping things more uptempo than on prior releases. “The new record is more like — you’re sort of like a panther in the trees leaping out of the darkness. We’re ready to pounce, everyone is really ready to go,” said Homme. “I feel like we’re just leaning on the gate waiting for someone to open that sucker up so we can move. I think the record feels that way too — it feels uptempo. While last thing […Like Clockwork] was about making it through, this time we’ve made it through the other side and we’re ready to roll.”
