It's considered one of the worst environmental disasters in Brazil history and the guys in Pearl Jam wanted to help out.

On November 5th, a toxic mining disaster killed twelve people in Brazil. Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder actually interrupted a recent concert saying that the mining company needs to be help responsible for what they did. A dam collapsed at the waste reservoirs of an iron ore mine, unleashing a torrent of yellowish muck that all but buried a village, left 280,000 people without water and smothered thousands of fish, turtles and other animals.

Twelve people are still missing, along with the twelve that perished. Environmentalists are saying it's going to take the area at least thirty years to recover from this. When Eddie Vedder announced the proceeds of the show would be going back to Brazil, the venue erupted in cheers and applause. We will see what happens in the area and hopefully the missing people are found soon.
