September 22, 2012 Aside from the fact that Guitar Hero and other music simulator games are fun as hell to play, they also give music geeks of the highest order like myself the opportunity to hear isolated tracks and remixed versions of songs within the games. And when you're talking old-school Metallica, my geekdom goes through the roof.
As Metallica fans are anxiously awaiting the 3D debut of their favorite band on the big screen, they will get an early surprise to keep their interests piqued: a DVD/Blu-Ray release of a two-night residency in Quebec City filmed in 2009 during Metallica's 'World Magnetic Tour.' Not only will fans get footage from Metallica's most recent worldwide tour, but they also get to pick which night of the two-night stay is featured as the main setlist on the release.
Congrats are in order for Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, who received the "Legend" Award at the recent Metal Hammer Award Show in Berlin.
In a new lengthy video clip posted by Metallica, the metal band takes you behind the scenes at their meet and greet at one of their Canadian tour stops Edmonton, Alberta. Additionally, the video invites fans into Metallica’s intimate tuning room on tour and shares live footage of one of their biggest hits from the show that night (Aug 17) – the first of two shows there.
