Last year, the legendary Ozzfest joined forces with Slipknot's own festival, Knotfest, to debut Ozzfest Meets Knotfest in San Bernardino, Calif. The event saw Black Sabbath and Slipknot headline the weekend event and while the details have yet to be unveiled for the follow-up installment in 2017, we know that it is indeed happening!

Last week (June 8), the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest Facebook page posted the image seen at the top of the page, indicating the joint fest would return this year. On June 9, an image of Zakk Wylde performing onstage alongside Ozzy Osbourne (seen below) was uploaded to the Prince of Darkness' Facebook page, posing the question, "Hey Zakk, should we do an Ozzfest this year?" This announcement teased the likelihood that one of metal's most iconic and influential fests would be returning once again.

The following day (June 10,) the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest page re-upped on the idea, uploading the same aforementioned image with the question, "Should we do Ozzfest Meets Knotfest again this year?" An event page has also been created to tease a forthcoming July 10 announcement, presumably when the lineup, date and location will all be revealed.

In addition to Black Sabbath and Slipknot's performances last year, other highlights included Disturbed, Slayer, Megadeth, Opeth, Amon Amarth, Anthrax and plenty more. See our recap and photos of Day 1 and Day 2 of the landmark event.

This summer will find Zakk Wylde performing his first series of shows back in Ozzy Osbourne's after officially rejoining in late April. Meanwhile, Slipknot have no scheduled 2017 dates as of press time.
