Ohio Teens Lead Police on Two-County Chase, Busted in Wichita Falls
News on Highway 287 for something other than drugs? Do tell.
Two teens from Ohio had been missing the past week. They were driving around in a stolen Ford Expedition. They passed through Bowie and into Clay County shortly before 11:00 pm Sunday night traveling down Highway 287.
The teens struck a Bowie police officer's vehicle and led police on a high-speed chase into Wichita Falls. The Wichita County police department were prepared for when the teenagers hit our area.
As the teens entered Wichita County and exited highway 287 business, a spike strip was deployed to stop the stolen vehicle. Even with blown tires, the teens tried to keep driving. They eventually hit a sign post at the intersection of Iowa Park Road and Central Freeway. The male driver was able to get away on foot. The female passenger was arrested on site.
14-year-old Kylee Taylor was transported to the Wichita County Juvenile Detention Center. She was reported as a missing person/juvenile runaway by the Belmont County Ohio Sheriff’s Office.
14-year-old Matthew Bateman was found Monday morning at Central Boys and Girls Club on 6th street at 8:46 am, reportedly covered in mud. Bateman was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Wichita County Juvenile Detention Center.
