The reboot of "Mortal Kombat" on the X-Box 360 and Playstation 3 has meet with great reviews.  Going back to a two-dimensional arena, but keeping the 3-D graphics, the new "Mortal Kombat" has gone back to rewrite the original three games while putting a new spin on several plot points and fighting mechanics.  Over the past few weeks, WB Games and Netherrealm Studios have been slowly revealing the first four characters available for download.  The first three included series veterans Rain and Kenshi, with new character  Skarlet (known as the "lady in red" in the background of previous games) making her debut.  The fourth downloadable character has been under wraps for quite some time, leading fans to wonder what surprise was in store.  Today at San Diego Comic Con, we got our answer...

FREDDY KRUEGER!

The Dream Master himself will be fighting against MK mainstays like Liu Kang, Scorpion and Sub-Zero.  Modeled after the 2010 Jackie Earl Hayley version, Freddy now sports a bladed glove on each hand and his fatalities that include taking his opponent into hell and throwing them into Freddy's furnace.  Freddy will be available for download on August 9th.
