I was appalled at what I saw watching the game Tuesday night. MLB has had it with the incidents at this stadium and it looks like the fans will start facing a punishment.

In case you did not know this, I am a Baltimore Orioles fan. The team had a great season making the wild card game this year. They had a one-game playoff against the Toronto Blue Jays in Toronto. In the bottom of the seventh inning, a routine popup occurred for the final out. Hyun-soo Kim is under it, when all of the sudden something comes flying at him from behind.

It was a beer can, missing him by about a foot or two. I couldn't believe it. In that moment, I thought it was the ball hitting the turf and he just lost it in the lights. Then he caught the ball and I figured out what happened. My house was filled with a ton of F-bombs at that moment, it wasn't pretty. Then I remembered, this wasn't the first time this has happened.

Rangers fans know all to well of beer throwing incidents in Toronto. American League Divisional series in 2015. Coincidence that happened in the 7th inning as well? Hell, this wasn't even the first time an Orioles left fielder was hit with a beer in Toronto. Back in 2013, Nate McLouth was hit with a beer after a catch.

Something needs to be done about these Toronto fans, enough is enough. MLB has contacted the Blue Jays and is wanting them to ban beer cans from the stadium. I am assuming the beer vendors will still walk around with the beer cans and then pour them into a cup. On the fan that threw the beer, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred had this to say.

“We are working very hard to locate the individual involved. I think from a deterrent perspective, it’s important to follow up and make sure that he’s prosecuted to the extent available.” The team said it will “enact heightened security measures and alcohol policies that will ensure the fan experience and safety of everybody involved.”

You know what I want? A beer ban, no alcohol served in that stadium for one game. Before you start calling me crazy. This has happened at other stadiums before. The Jets stadium did a beer ban for one game because of unruly behavior from fans. Is that extreme, yes. Sometimes you have to punish people like its kindergarten, but something has to be done.
