Michael Bay on ‘Transformers 2′: “That was crap.”

Funny… Megan Fox was cut from “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” for saying the same thing.  In an interview with Empire magazine, Michael Bay admitted that “Transformers 2: Rise of the Fallen” wasn’t as good as it should have been.

“We made some mistakes.  The real fault with is that it ran into a mystical world. When I look back at it, that was crap. The writers’ strike was coming hard and fast. It was just terrible to do a movie where you’ve got to have a story in three weeks.”

So, he blames the writers strike, I can understand that.  But does he share any fault?

“I was prepping a movie for months where I only had 14 pages of some idea of what the movie was.  It’s a BS way to make a movie, do you know what I’m saying?”

Ok… she he’s a little responsbile for how bad the movie was.  And it’s an idea he shares with star Shia LaBeouf.

“We got lost. We tried to get bigger. It’s what happens to sequels. It’s like, how do you top the first one? You’ve got to go bigger,” LaBeouf said. “Mike went so big that it became too big, and I think you lost the anchor of the movie. … You lost a bit of the relationships. Unless you have those relationships, then the movie doesn’t matter. Then it’s just a bunch of robots fighting each other.”

Though I’m not a fan of Michael Bay, I have so much respect for a director who lets down the fans with a terrible movie (Bryan Singer and “Superman Returns”), and is big enough to admit to the failure instead of acting like M. Night and treating the fans like its their fault they didn’t like the movie.
